Most restorative dentists have questioned themselves at some point in their careers in regards to the way they cut Class II restorations. I certainly have questioned myself as my 57 carbide mowed through mostly healthy tooth structure knowing fully well that I was seriously weakening the tooth. Hundreds of times, maybe a thousand times. Ugh. Research has now shown that composite is no better than amalgam for reducing subsequent tooth fracturing.
